ROBE Fund

Since its establishment in 1987, the Alabama Law Foundation (ALF) has improved our judicial system through its work to ensure access to justice, advance judicial administration, and fund law-related education initiatives.

ALF’s newest program, established in 2021, the ROBE Fund, will provide scholarships to newer general jurisdiction state judges on the bench for three years or less wishing to attend judicial education programs.

While the Administrative Office of Courts provides judges with essential training and education, there has been only limited and sporadic funding for additional training and education that would be beneficial to our Bench, and ultimately to all Alabamians. ROBE Fund scholarships can serve to help even out funding disparities that exist between different judicial circuits within the State.

Partial scholarships will be awarded for attendance at the ten-day General Jurisdiction Course offered by the National Judicial College. These will be awarded at the recommendation of a Scholarship Committee composed of both state judges and ALF Board Members.

ALF has the resources in place not only to solicit donations but also to manage the Fund and administer the scholarship program. Please consider partnering with us to further the educational opportunities for our judges in one of the following ways:

  • Make a donation or pledge to give yearly.
  • If retiring from the Bench, contribute any leftover campaign funds.

By working together, we can ensure that the ROBE Fund serves its stated purpose of “Reinforcing Our Bench’s Excellence.”

The Alabama Law Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All contributions will qualify as charitable tax-deductible donations.
