The Alabama Law Foundation was proud to welcome bar foundation leaders from across the country to Montgomery August 13–15 for the 2026 National Conference of Bar Foundations (NCBF) Annual Meeting. Held at the Elevation Hotel & Convening Center, the conference brought NCBF members together for three days of education, collaboration, networking, and fellowship in Alabama’s capital city.

NCBF President Sang Yup Lee presided over a full program designed to help bar foundations strengthen their organizations and expand their impact. Speakers and sessions explored timely topics including the use of artificial intelligence, marketing, fundraising, and best practices for bar foundations. Throughout the conference, attendees had opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from colleagues, and build relationships with others who share a commitment to law-related philanthropy and service.

A highlight of the conference was an address by special guest Alabama Supreme Court Justice Sarah Stewart, who spoke about the importance of preserving the rule of law and the legal community’s role in supporting the principles and institutions that underpin our justice system.

The conference also provided plenty of time to enjoy Montgomery and one another’s company. Attendees gathered for a welcome networking reception and enjoyed dinner at Central Restaurant in downtown Montgomery. The relaxed social events offered an opportunity for colleagues from across the country to reconnect, make new friends, and experience the hospitality and flavor of the River Region.

Several presentations made the gathering particularly meaningful. Alabama Law Foundation Immediate Past President Leslie Barineau received the Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and service. The program also included the presentation of the NCBF Partnership for Success Award, presented to the Connecticut Bar Foundation.

The meeting concluded with an important NCBF tradition as Lee passed the gavel to incoming NCBF President Jessie Reeves, marking the beginning of a new year of leadership for the organization.

For the Alabama Law Foundation, hosting the 2026 Annual Meeting was both an honor and a pleasure. The energy and enthusiasm attendees brought to Montgomery could be felt throughout the conference, from engaging educational sessions to lively conversations and shared meals. We are grateful to everyone who traveled from across the country to join us and helped make the meeting such a memorable experience.
