Alabama Law Foundation announces selection of 2025 Fellows

April 15, 2025 – (MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – The Alabama Law Foundation proudly welcomes its 2025 class of Fellows. Each year, the Foundation invites a select group of Alabama lawyers to join this distinguished group in recognition of their dedication to the legal profession and their service to others. Nominations are submitted by current Fellows, and a special selection committee carefully reviews candidates to choose new members who exemplify leadership and a commitment to justice. The Fellows were honored at a formal dinner held April 5 at the Renaissance Ross Bridge in Birmingham, Ala.
“Fellows are a vital part of the Alabama Law Foundation’s efforts,” said ALF Board President Leslie Barineau. “They are role models in our legal community, demonstrating how lawyers can lead with purpose and contribute meaningfully to society. Through their example and mentorship, they help guide others in fulfilling the legal profession’s highest calling—providing service to those in need.”
The Fellows program was established in 1995 to recognize lawyers who have had a lasting impact on the state and their local communities. Membership is limited to no more than one percent of Alabama State Bar members, making it a significant and meaningful recognition. The first Fellows included former presidents of both the Alabama State Bar and the Alabama Law Foundation.
A special part of this year’s Fellows Dinner was the presentation of the Alabama Law Foundation’s inaugural Excellence Award to Mary Margaret Bailey of Frazer, Greene, Upchurch & Baker LLC in Mobile. This new award honors a Fellow whose exceptional service has significantly advanced the mission of the Alabama Law Foundation. Bailey’s unwavering dedication, strategic leadership, and generous support have played a vital role in strengthening the Foundation’s work to expand access to justice in Alabama. Her long-standing involvement and commitment to excellence have helped guide ALF into a new era, making her a most deserving recipient of this distinguished recognition. Bailey is an ALF Fellow and a member of the Atticus Finch Society.
