The Alabama Law Foundation has two law school scholarships it administers, the Cabaniss Johnston Scholarship and the Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, June 7. Transcripts don’t have to be to our office by then, but applications must be submitted online.
The Cabaniss Johnston Scholarship was established by the firm of Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O’Neal in 1987 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the firm’s founding. It was the foundation’s first program. The scholarship is for the second year of law school at an American Bar Association accredited law school. Applicants must be Alabama residents. The maximum amount of the scholarship is $5,000.
The Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship was established by the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar in 2008. It provides law school scholarships to female Alabama residents attending law school in Alabama. Applicants may be entering their first, second or third years of law school.
The winner of each scholarship is chosen by a committee and winners will be announced in early July.
